About Go Mid Michigan

Go Mid Michigan is an independent Michigan publication launched in 2026 by Steve Myers, a Flint-area community leader, retired Army sergeant, and disabled veteran.

Steve created Go Mid Michigan to share the places, events, businesses, and community stories that make Michigan worth exploring. His connection to the region runs deep, and his work has long centered on serving veterans, seniors, people with disabilities, families, and others who may need a little extra support navigating everyday life.

His own experience with disability gives him a practical understanding of accessibility—not as a buzzword, but as something that can determine whether a person is able to attend an event, visit an attraction, or enjoy a day out with family. That perspective helps shape the site’s interest in accessible travel, mobility-friendly destinations, and useful information for readers with different needs.

Steve has also been involved in nonprofit and community outreach work throughout Flint, Genesee County, and Mid Michigan. He brings that same community-minded approach to Go Mid Michigan: highlighting local organizations, encouraging people to support Michigan businesses, and helping readers discover places and experiences they might otherwise miss.

The site covers festivals, attractions, restaurants, entertainment, travel ideas, local businesses, and stories from communities across Mid Michigan and throughout the state. The goal is to create a reliable, welcoming publication that feels genuinely connected to the people and places it covers.
